This was the smoothest move ever---I hired packers and movers!! It was a move I wasn't really looking forward to (it actually made me sick to my stomache to think of moving), so packers and movers took alot of emotional stress out of it for me.
Green Way Packers came in last Monday, and got started. I, on the other hand, left the house, with kids in tow, and went to a friends for coffee! It was weird to come home and see my stuff in boxes, but I saved myself alot of heartache.
The ladies that did the packing were wonderful. They labelled everything, and helped with getting rid of some extra "clutter"! And they unpacked my kitchen for me once we moved into the new place. Of course, this all came with a pricetag, but it really wasn't that unreasonable. It took 2 ladies, 10 hours to pack our 2600 sq ft home, along with a messy basement.....RC Movers came in on Wednesday, and moved everything to the new place. Again, everything went smooth, and it was quite reasonable!!
We have moved into a rental home in Okotoks, until the end of July, at which time we will hopefully head to France for the year. It was very weird to see "my stuff" in a house that wasn't mine...The house is quite nice, but just missing a few storage type features, and has no drawers in the kitchen. The kids rooms are smaller, but it will work just fine until the end of July.
I may be in denial, but so far, I am doing okay with the move. We still have our old place until March 1, so I haven't had to officially say goodbye yet! I am also thinking I might like to rebuild our Acreage home, with a few tweaks, on a lot in Okotoks, when we return from France. I really did love the house, and it worked well for our family. I think this has also helped to me leave our home in a somewhat positive state of mind!
Well, now that we have moved, I guess we best get to work on getting things in order for France!!
